  1. First mix rice and lentil in a bowl and wash thoroughly till cloudy water disappear.. Soak in plenty of water fo' half an hour
  2. Take a pressure cooker and pour 7 cups(almost tripe than the dal-rice mixture) of water and bring to a boil..put dal -rice mixture a spoon of clarified butter/ghee and salt.. close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook till 2 whistles and switch of the flame and and't immediately open the pressure cooker..let it to cook in pressure cooker steam
  3. When the steam releases then open the pressure cooker and stir the khichdi well..adjust the consistency of khichdi by pouring little water or by cooking more
  4. Yo'r khichdi is ready
  5. Tadka_heat ghee in a small tadka pan..splutter cumin and add pinch of asafoetida,red pepper powder and garam masala
  6. Transfer the khichdi in borosil or other bowl and pour tadka over it.. Garnish with slit green chilli and lemon slices
  7. Serve hot with curd
