Healthy eating is now a great deal more popular than in the past and rightfully so. Poor diet is one factor in health problems such as heart disease and hypertension which can put a drain on the economy. Wherever you look, people are encouraging you to live a more healthy way of living but then again, you are also being encouraged to rely on fast foods that can affect your health in a detrimental way. A lot of people typically believe that healthy diets demand much work and will significantly alter how they live and eat. It is possible, though, to make a few minor changes that can start to make a positive impact to our day-to-day eating habits.

One initial thing you can do is to pay close attention to the choices you make when you’re shopping for food as you most likely choose a lot of food items out of habit. As an example, if you have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, do you ever stop to see what the sugar and salt content is before purchasing? A great healthy option can be porridge oats which have been shown to be beneficial for your heart and can give you good sustainable energy each day. By mixing in fresh fruit, you can make oatmeal taste better and, before you know it, you will have made a positive change to your diet.

Hence, it should be fairly obvious that it’s not difficult to add healthy eating to your daily lifestyle.

Instructions to make Sausage stuffed shells:
  1. Boil 8 cups of water in a large pan over medium -high heat.
  2. Ntly pour the stuffed shells into the boiling water and boil for 9 minutes, then drain and set aside. (You'll need about 22-24 shells, but I boil the whole 12 ounces so I have extra in case some shells break.)
  3. In a large bowl, combine the beef, pork, egg, cheese, bread crumbs, garlic, parsley and basil. Mix well.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spread about 3/4 cup sauce into the bottom of a 9x13 baking pan.
  5. Using an ice cream scoop (or your hands), scoop the meat mixture and gently stuff it into the shells. Place the shells meat side up into the prepared pan, side by side to fill the pan.
  6. Once the shells are all stuffed, pour the rest of the sauce overtop the shells and spread it around to cover all the shells.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over top.
  8. Cut a piece of aluminum foil a little larger than your pan. Spray one side with cooking spray. Cover the baking pan (sprayed side down) and press to seal.
  9. Bake covered for 40 minutes, then uncover and broil on low for 3-5 minutes to brown the cheese (watch this closely!).
