- Provide 1 bell pepper , small - sized , diced
- Take 2 Bay leaves
- Provide 1/2 Tablespoon oregano
- Take 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- You need 6 Cloves garlic
- Get 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- Provide 1 1/2 Cups olives spanish green
- Use 1/2 Cup nonpareil capers
Instructions to make Picadillo:
- In a large saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil. Add green pepper and onion and saute until translucent, then add the garlic and saute for and additional minute.
- Add tomato paste, Bay leaf, and oregano and cook for 3-4 minutes. Put in the ground beef, olives and capers,and let them simmer.
- After about 40 minutes, taste and adjust seasonings. It important to note we do not drain the fat or not all of it, depending on amount. There needs to be a fair amount of fat in the meat.
- I choose to make mine early in the day and allow it to sit over a low heat.
